jQuery is a fast, concise, JavaScript Library that simplifies how you traverse HTML documents, handle events, perform animations, and add Ajax interactions to your web pages. jQuery is designed to change the way that you write JavaScript.

Scripts and tools are libraries, not applications. They may require some programming knowledge.

Not just for Linux
I am not sure who classified this, but if you are looking at this and you see it is just for Linux you will be wrong. Just google jQuery and get it from there. Very easy and will work on any OS. It's just Javascript.

Pain free development of pages
Before using jQuery the development of dynamic pages were so very painful. I have seen junior developers get good results using jQuery whereas before it would take days to get something that nearly worked. jQuery provides a consistent API that takes responsibility for cross browser customizations nececssary to make functionality work.

A Great library...
When I started writing code in the 80's the development time was spent writing and debugging. With jQuery the development time is very fast, and you end up making much more per hour. I hope the customers never figure it out...

JQuery is imperative.
I don't have a website that I don't use JQuery with. The best thing about it is that you can write good HTML and script it up after the fact. JQuery makes this process very easy and it's simple to learn. I'm a huge fan.

A must-have
jQuery is my first go-to when doing anything in Javascript beyond simple scripting. I've worked with Yahoo's YUI, MooTools and Prototype/Scriptaculous and felt they were all a lot harder to use with no real advantages for what I want to do. The guys at work who do heavy-duty page development are also using jQuery for major applications and feel the same way.
